Santa Cup Ice speedway event

Santa Cup is a classic event that takes place in three different cities around Christmas. Almost like the British who have their traditional boxing day football the ice speedway circuit have their Santa Cup. This year the Swedish promotors managed to get Franky Zorn from Austria together with good riders from Holland, Germany, Norway and Finland. A great opportunity for the less established Swedish riders to compete against the best(the russians excluded...). With the great help from the swedish site www.isracing.net I give you the final results from this years Santa Cup.

1. Franz Zorn 75p
2. Stefan Svensson 66p
3. Harald Simon 53p

ICY RIDERS on SVT...

Today we got the slot for the ICY RIDERS on SVT (Swedish Television).
It will be screened prime time at the 15th of February at eight o´clock on SVT2. Posas reaction was; "Shit, then I am in Siberia!". Well, I am afraid they don´t have swedish channels there but there will be reruns for sure. So everybody out there in for a ice speedway treat...Remember the date and time. The 15th of February at 20.00 on SVT2.

Hedemora

8th November
This saturday at the STAR cinema the first screening of ICY RIDERS took place in Swedens motorbike town all categories, Hedemora. A small charming city in the region of Dalarna. Motorbike legends like Tony Richardsson, Hasse Holmqvist and Posa Serenius were all concieved at Hedemora hospital. Hedemora is perhaps most famous for it´s TT-races in the forties and fifties. However, first sighted were two old men(mid- eighties) almost two hours before the place opened! They said they had to be sure to get seats and that they were in no hurry. I asked them if they thought there would showing up any people. That´s exactly why we are here, they laughed. Remember, this is Hedemora son! And right they were. The lobby was packed well an hour before the film started and it was a bit chaotic. But everybody got their seats and after a short introduction we rolled the film. It was a great moment. Everybody genuiely seemed to like it. There was also a second private screening for the people involved in the film later at night in a motorhouse with a big party as well. A fantastic evening indeed!

DVD-update

In order to get everything in place we are busier than Santa Claus himself at the moment. We want the DVD to be ready and rolling by the time it will be aired on Swedish Television early next year. We have put in loads of extra footage and archive material on it as there are almost 200 hours of film to choose from. We will of course keep you updated. The film is already to be screened in seven countries and we hope for many more to join.

Off the beaten track

Four years ago I was left at a hotel in Krasnogorsk, Russia. Together with the Swedish motorcycle legend, Posa Serenius and his two mechanics.  I had a vague idea about making a documentary on ice speedway, motorcycle racing on ice. But seriously, what was I in for here? Pitch dark. 30 degrees below zero. Nowhere to go except further east. I started to get a feeling I would regret the whole idea. It was a clear case of "Do or Die".

But, now...This very day I have the great news of telling that the film made it for the Gothenburg 2009 International Film Festival and also tonight is competing in Palermo, Italy. The four years of hard work and efforts have started to pay off!
